Divorce – How Does it Happen?

When two people get married, it is usually the happiest day of their lives. When Husband and wife is sharing feeling and thoughts. they are understanding the life than never go to divorce.

The statistics say something different. The Forest Institute of Professional Psychology states that about 50% of all first marriages will end in divorce at some point, and that two thirds of second marriages will also end this way, which shows that even on the second try true love is not guaranteed. Something between "I do" and the divorce papers goes wrong. What could it be?

Quick marriages sometimes leads to quick divorces. Marriage is a giant step; a bed is not the only thing couples share; often, houses, money, cars and even TV time has to be shared as well. For those who are familiar with being independent, this takes some getting used to.

At times there is another male or female involved. The marriage may have grown stale, or a spouse may have gotten too close to a co-worker or friend. Some couples may not be able to overcome infidelity within their marriage.

It is often hard for people to understand how a marriage can end in divorce after ten or even twenty years. Some make think, "They've made it this long, nothing could come between them now." Some couples separate after decades together because they have grown apart; often the result of career changes, kids moving out of the home, and other changes in situation. A lot of times you will hear someone say, I don't know her/him anymore.

Luckily, there is help for relationships that may be deteriorating. Many different types of marital counseling are available from churches, support groups, and counselors who specialize in helping married couples. It is typically not a quick fix, but counseling can help lay a solid foundation for a relationship.
