Top Options for Mountain Resort Fine Dining

Ski holidays are no longer the rough and tumble experience common in the 1970s and 80s. Now ski resorts spanning Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming are in a quiet race to build the top ski vacation experience.

The last ten years has brought continual expansion to western ski resorts. They have expanded their size, quality, and breadth of services. Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT and Vail Resort in Vail, Colorado have risen to the top of the ski resort show down. Deer Valley Resort has been ranked the #1 Ski Resort in North America by the readers of Ski Magazine in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005, and 2001. Vail Resort held the honor in 2006, 2003, 2002, and 2000.

To earn the #1 place Deer Valley has focused not only on the quality of its skiing, but also on mountain services and the Deer Valley restaurant experience. Deer Valley Resort does not just serve visitors lunch during the day. At night they convert their lodges into fine restaurants which are arguably some of the top restaurants in Deer Valley and Park City UT.

Selections at Deer Valleys 3 upscale dining restaurants include European and continental fare at Mariposa, fresh seafood at the Seafood Buffet, and Swiss selections at Fireside Dining. Mariposa consistently receives top ratings with the Seafood Buffet and Fireside Dining not far behind.

Park City Utah has also upgraded its service level by increasing the number of luxury accommodations and by adding many great restaurants. The traditional ski holiday lodging options have been replaced because of the demands of the modern traveler.

As a result of this recent transition towards a more discerning visitor, Deer Valley and Park City restaurants have responded by cultivating an ever improving dining experience. Mobile, Michelin, AAA, and Zagat rate several restaurants close to Deer Valley Resort as top choices within their widely read travel guides.

My favorite Deer Valley restaurant is the Goldener Hirsch Restaurant due to its timeless Austrian decor and the delicious cheese fondue appetizer. The Goldener Hirsch Restaurant is located in the Goldener Hirsch Inn situated in the Silver Lake Village area of Deer Valley. The Glitretind Restaurant is another top rated option which is located in the world famous Stein Eriksen Lodge.

Living up to its number 1 ski resort reputation, Deer Valley Resort certainly will not disappoint. No matter what your personal preference you will definitely be able to find something to your liking both on and off the mountain. Deer Valley is definitely worth a closer examination. Two thumbs up!
